In 1947, as India took its first breath as an independent nation, a small bookshop opened its doors in South India. Central Book Shop wasn't just selling books—it was fueling a dream. The dream that every child, in every corner of our young nation, deserved access to quality education.

By 1979, that dream had grown roots. Central Book Shop had become a trusted name, and the family behind it saw a new opportunity: if we truly wanted to serve education, we needed to do more than distribute books—we needed to print them, publish them, and ensure every student could afford them.

The Birth of Arkbird

The 1980s marked a turning point. Arkbird Publications was born, carrying forward the legacy of Central Publishers established in 1947. What started as a single printing press evolved into a mission: to become the backbone of educational publishing in South India.

Three generations have now poured their dedication into this work. From grandfather to father to son, the commitment has remained unchanged—quality education materials at scale, delivered with integrity.
